Lundy Island Half Puffin 1929
Lundy Island, Martin Coles Harman, Half Puffin 1929:
Lundy, an impregnable cliff-girt island in the Bristol Channel, has had some celebrated owners, the most recent being Martin Coles Harman, who issued his own stamps & coins in 1929. On being prosecuted for the contravention of the 1870 Coinage Act Mr Harman defended his sovereign right to do so before the Devonshire Quarter Sessions on the grounds that Lundy was outside the Realm of Англия. His appeal to the King's Bench against a fine of ?5 was dismissed.
